The Great Annual Examen: Reflecting Back and Praying Forward

For hundreds of years, Christians have taken the time to examine their lives by reflecting backwards: what went well and what went, well… not so well. In these days ahead as we anticipate a new beginning and a new year, we have a wonderful opportunity to reflect backwards and to pray forward.

As we all know so well, making resolutions are OK. But most of us fail in the first few days. This is a way to dig deeper into your soul-into your God given desires-the very place where all change and transformation happens and is birthed.

The Great Annual Examen is a spiritual exercise helping us to reflect on several critical areas of our lives: our health, our relationships, our work and vocation and spiritual walk.

This is offered to you this year as a way to take the time to reflect and to pray. You’ll be guided to consider your life from several different perspectives but all of the ways we view our lives are under the love of God.

I am offering the Great Annual Examen on the website of our ministry, Potter’s Inn. All you need to do is to click the link, fill in your email and you’ll be given access to download and print the Examen.

A few notes:

1. Take it slow. Slow down and create the space to reflect. This is designed to take several hours. You can’t possibly do this in a 30 minute shot.

2. Take one area a day and let that be your focus. Take a moment to sit quietly and let yourself center with all the busyness and distractions. Consider lighting a candle to give you some focus. Sit with the quiet and begin.

3. Encourage your friends, small group to join you. Send the link to them.

4. You have permission to use this in your churches and places of business. We hope you will.

5. Download it now because this is the last year we will make this available for free on the internet. Next year, we will publish it in my new book which will be released in the Spring 2019 as another resource for the care of your soul.

I am developing a new, small book on my journey of discernment doing the Ignatian Exercises.

Last year, over 10,000 people used this and we were so happy to see this valuable tool spread across the world. We received many encouraging stories from individuals as well as leaders using in their spheres of influence.

So, let’s get started.

Down load The Great Annual Examen here: You’ll be take to ouur home page and scroll down. Give the internet a few moments to send you the link via your own email and you’ll be set to begin.

May the Lord bless us all as we reflect back and pray forward!

Every blessing in the New Year!
